Acura and Honda Models Recalled

Nov 10, 2023Nov 10, 2023

The fuel pump will be replaced on hundreds of thousands of cars, minivans, and SUVs

American Honda Motor is recalling 628,124 Acura and Honda vehicles because the low-pressure fuel pump inside the gas tank may fail.

Fuel pump components in the tank could crack due to exposure to solvents during the manufacturing process. The recalled 2018-2020 cars, minivans, and SUVs may have fuel pumps with defective parts that could prevent an engine from starting or cause the engine to stall while driving, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. A serious problem may cause a warning light to illuminate in the instrument cluster.

This recall is an expansion of recall 20V314 announced in May 2020.

Honda is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Owners will be notified starting mid-May 2021. After which, they can take their vehicle to an Acura or Honda dealership to have the fuel pump replaced free of charge.

Owners who had this condition repaired previously are eligible for reimbursement.

How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may contact Honda customer service at 888-234-2138.

NHTSA campaign number: 21V215000. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V314.

Check to see whether your vehicle has an open recall: NHTSA's website will tell you whether your vehicle has any open recalls that need to be addressed.

If you plug your car's 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into NHTSA's website and a recall doesn't appear, it means your vehicle doesn't currently have any open recalls. Because automakers issue recalls often, and for many older vehicles, we recommend checking back regularly to see whether your vehicle has had a recall issued.
